Using a variety methods and strategies customized to individual client needs, we are trained and equipped in working with teens to address:

For adolescents under age 18, we offer in-person sessions only. Once established and on a positive wellness trend, ages 16 and up can transition to or utilize virtual sessions as needed to accommodate complex scheduling needs related to extracurricular activities and work.
In regards to confidentiality, we operate by the Standard Code of Ethics provided by the American Counseling Association. As a result, though parents permission and payment for therapy, what is shared in therapy stays in therapy. Trust is an imperative aspect of working successfully with anyone, especially teens. Only issues related to harm to/of self, and/or harm to/of others are, by law, required to breach confidentiality for the sake of safety.
Our therapy approach for counseling for minors does include integration of family therapy to empower the parents/guardians in supporting their tween or teen with implementing strategies at home and to better aid with needs, concerns, and successes that occur between sessions.
Family does matter, even for friend-focused and independent adolescents. The family system and unit are vital to fullness of mental health recovery and development healthy life habits. As a result, we take a family included approach which means that parents/guardians may be included in a joint session activity, circled up with at the end of session to share strategies, and/or have a separate parent coaching session. When the clinician shares it will not be to reveal confidences, but rather to inform on strategies with that require support and partnership for integration of of skills into day-to-day routines or targeted circumstances and situations. In joint sessions, the clinician will only broach topics agreed upon and planned ahead with the adolescent client, and will only share from permissions explicitly granted.
Group therapy can be a powerful way to connect with others who are going through similar challenges, or seeking to grow in the same skills. Our group therapy sessions provide a safe and supportive environment where you can share your experiences and learn from others. We offer routine group therapy services to meet resonating demands of both our clientele and the community. We have an open policy for skills groups, however, therapeutic groups requiring individual sessions to identify readiness for group therapy and overall needs for specific goals tracking. In the schools, youth groups, as well as, other community groups or organizations members may have similar needs and concerns. Stressors from shared events such as loss (whether it's a game or a friend's life), navigating social drama and/or family dynamics are a common teen theme, along with developing life habits to offset stressors to create balance, impose self-care, and most of all implementing effective support for one another.
